Happy New Year! We've made it to the halfway mark, hooray! This month, 4th graders are working hard on brushing up their note-reading skills, in anticipation of playing recorders in February. We will also be learning the songs "Fifty Nifty United States" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" in 4th, as well as reviewing these two songs in 5th grade.
This week, 5th grade is going to be playing pitched instruments (xylophones and similar barred instruments) to show their knowledge of note names. First grade has just begun their musical, The Little Engine That Could Sing. They are doing great so far at learning the music and have genuine enthusiasm for the story! Second graders this week are practicing steady beat by performing body percussion (pat, clap, snap, stamp) and will be singing music with So, Mi, and La in it. |
